She was a visionary, a fighter, and a game-changer. Born in 1927 on the island of Maui, Patsy faced discrimination and barriers, yet she never let that dim her spirit. She fought her way through, becoming the first woman of color elected to Congress. But her most enduring legacy? Title IX.

This law, which prohibits gender discrimination in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance, has been a game-changer in leveling the playing field for women athletes.
