Story Time: The Brandi Chastain Quilt
On this day last year: March 8th, 2022!
One of the most popular pieces hanging in The Bra is our one-of-a-kind, custom made Brandi Chastain quilt.
About 2 months before opening, I reached out to my aunt who lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. Auntie Lynn is a lifelong quilter, but she has only ever done traditional American style. I wondered if she’d be willing and able to put something together for my women’s sports bar? 🤔 So I asked her and without hesitation she replied, “Oh! I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m willing to try!”
Mind you, this was right around the time that her daughter was just about to have her first child — Auntie Lynn’s second grandchild. So I told her that the quilt wasn’t a priority and that if the quilt came after we opened, I would still be so grateful.
Baby Mia was born a month later and just weeks later I received a cardboard shipping tube with this incredibly exquisite quilt carefully rolled up inside:
