Women's Equality Day with The Sports Bra x Hotel Zena

🏛️👀✨Wow. We asked DC to show up and BOY DID Y’ALL SHOW UP!🙌🏼🥳🇺🇸
We hosted a 4-day pop-up in collaboration with Hotel Zena, a feminist-forward boutique hotel in the center of DC’s bustling 14th Street District, centering on the celebration of Women’s Equality Day. Dozens of folks came from around the city every day of our event and some even traveled across state lines to eat, drink and watch women’s sports at The Sports Bra pop-up at the Figleaf Restaurant inside Hotel Zena!
Huge thanks to the hotel and restaurant staff who absolutely NAILED our recipes, from Mama’s Baby Back Ribs to our famous frothy Cherry Picker. Hotel Zena had the place decked out with gear and memorabilia from local DC teams, like the Spirit, Mystics, Shadow and the Divas. And you know we had to add our flair in there too with stickers, patches and other branded giveaways. They even added a bunch more TVs to the space to really capture the sports bar vibe in their swank space.
And a most gigantic thank you and CONGRATULATIONS to Drew Varcoe, our front-of-house supervisor, who traveled across the country for a week to represent The Sports Bra! She’s the first person on our team (other than me) to (wo)man a pop-up from start to finish, and she SLAYED! Great job Drew!
One of the highlights of the entire 4-day event came on the final day, when we turned the seating area into a 5-person panel that was free and open to the public. Women leaders from various industries gathered to discuss and highlight the incredible influence of women in traditionally male-dominated fields, in front of an absolutely packed house. From the front office to the control tower, we talked about the power of representation, changing the narrative, and flipping the status quo. What an absolutely inspiring and powerful cast to be a part of!
